So I made that time for myself this evening quilting up a future project for this blog and then making a gift for a dear friend who really helped me emotionally this morning. I am definitely in her debt and what better way to say thank you than a quilt! Or in this case....a clutch...I think that's what you'd call it. It still needs a closure of some kind. I'm going to see what she'd prefer.
I always try to do something new when I'm quilting. Often it's unexpected and just happens. It's not planned. Today I decided to put the ends of two feathers together in a twirl. I like the results. I also used lots of different feather patterns and varied their length. I'm quite happy with the results. Here are a few more detail pictures.
You can see I had a fold-over problem in the corner. I hate it when that happens, but since I was planning on trimming it anyways I didn't bother to rip.
Above is the final pouch! I am feeling much calmer.

Yes, alone-time blends perfectly with stitching-time ☺ Glad you had a friend for some emotional support♥
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! And I'm glad you made something with it. I actually started reading the paragraph below the first picture and thought "oh my I do hope she makes something with this!" Then I went back and read from the top. The recipient is very lucky to have this pretty piece, and you are fortunate to have her for a friend. Good therapy all around!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy. Friends and quilting are the best therapy
DeleteYour quilting is beautiful! I really love the way you joined the two feathers with the twirl and the (almost) finished pouch is so pretty. I'm glad you have your friend and quilting to help you through the tough times.
