This month the Island Batik Ambassador's were challenge to try out one of Studio 180's amazing rulers! I received the Wing Clipper ruler to make flying geese. I must admit that flying geese are something I rarely make because I find them frustrating. Not anymore!
For my project I used the Catching Dreams collection from Island Batik. It's so pretty full of soft blues and purples.
I of course cut all my pieces on my amazing Accuquilt GO! cutter. It makes it so much faster and I love how the pieces all end up the same size.
Next it was time to use the Quilter's Magic Wand. I fell in love with it. It is so much easier to use than any other half square triangle tool I have used before. The laser cut line is nice and fine which makes it easy to line up the corners accurately.
I then trimmed up all my flying geese of various sizes using the Wing Clipper. It worked perfectly.
All done! I had a blast quilting this one using Aurifil Thread and Hobbs 80/20 Cotton/Poly batting (my favorite!).
The fabric collection has buffalo in one of the prints, so of course I had to quilt some buffalo in it. The outside of my quilt has a herd of buffalo wandering through the grass.
To make the geese "fly" I quilted them all with pebbles.
Done! So pretty. I love how varying the background leads to a watercolor effect.
I hope you get to quilt today!
