My new show quilt, Kaboom!, is at Home Machine Quilter's Showcase this weekend.  This is it's inaugural show.  It's in the Conventional Machine category and took a third place ribbon!  I'm tickled pink.  I wish I'd taken more pictures to share here with you, but here are a few.  I'll share more once it comes back.
I had this gorgeous orange batik (it's in the biggest spikes below) that I loved and wanted to showcase in a quilt.  I'd been wanting to make a mariners compass, but didn't want to use the traditional setting so I designed the center of the quilt.  Then, I played in Electric Quilter until I came up with a border design that I liked to go with it (all the spikes).  I've been working on this quilt for almost four years and I remember doing this while my younger son was napping!
Some lovely texture as I quilted.
I love feathers.  I just can't get enough of them.
The gorgeous Mariner's compass center.  I love the way it sparkles.  The blue quilting thread looks simply electric!
The full quilt. I designed the borders knowing I wanted to do a curvy binding.  I'm very happy with the way it turned out!  And with it's first win!  So exciting! (Okay, I think I used up all my exclamation points for the week....)
Come check out my Machine Applique Adventures Facebook Group! (Yes, I had one more in me...)
Happy Almost Weekend!
Suzy
