Playing with my Rayon Scarf from Island Batiks

Back in February I received my first box of fabrics from Island Batik.  In it was a gorgeous rayon scarf.  It's a pretty minty green.  I knew I wanted to play with it a little and my son piped up that it needed some applique added to it.  He knows me so well.

I went into my Island Batik fabrics and found these gorgeous fabrics from the Seasons Shades collection.  They are pretty and soft and go perfectly with the scarf.

I designed a simple flower and had fun fussy cutting the flower with stripes and making sure that some of the pink areas of the green fabric got into the bottom of the curls to help add to the color of the flower.

I used a double blanket stitch to go around each shape.  I decided to do the curls and stem in purple too (partly because I wound too much bobbin and partly because I thought it would help them pop more than using a green thread on a green background).

Here I am with my finished scarf.  I play to wear it when I teach this weekend for a local guild.

I hope you get to quilt today!
