This vase was definitely a learning experience. The gold was painted onto the red suede. Then I added black leather pumpkin seeds on top. The black leather was really really thin, but it still had two layers of leather. Working the blanket stitch on top of two layers of leather and the chambray background fabric and a layer of stabilizer underneath was a bit too much. It worked, but it was very thick. I'm not sure I'd double layer leather again no matter how thin. But then, that's why I try these things!

And the back as I am starting to rip off the stabilizer.
Now on to the quilting!
