This month the Island Batik Ambassadors were challenged to use a Block on Board Accuquilt Die and a block made using the 8 inch Qube.
For my Block on Board I received was Morning Star. It makes a 12 inch block.
I chose to use black, two gorgeous new greens from the Vincent's Garden Collection and a gorgeous lavender. These blocks were so slick to put together! I LOVE Block on Board dies.
For the other block I chose to use a block very similar to the double T block. I can't remember the exact name of it. It is a 12" block in order to fit well with the morning star block. I simply used more of my units made with the Qube.
I had fun quilting straight lines on interior white spaces and feathers all around the edges. After all, you can never have enough feathers. I used
Hobbs 80/20 Cotton/Poly batting and my favorite
Aurifil threads of course. The
Schmetz Microtex needles slide through the batiks like butter!
Island Batik and Accuquilt are such fun to work with!
Part of this challenge is to give the quilt to someone to help spread love and joy. I will definitely be doing that, but it's a secret for now. So you'll have to wait a bit until it can be given.
I hope you get to quilt today!
