On Ringo Lake Clue #3 Done!

31 Day Blogging Challenge Day 10!

Here are all of my pieces pinned and ready to sew.  I had Quilter's Night Out last night and wanted to be all ready to sew.  It's so much fun to get together with girlfriends and chat and sew.  These are all my pieces for Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville Mystery, On Ringo Lake.  The pattern is available for free on her blog.

I picked up my piles of fabrics and don't they look like a salmon steak?  Sushi anyone?

All sewn up and completed!

I hope you get to quilt today!

Free Motion Friday - Helen Godden's Christmas Advent Quilt Along - Part 3

It's day 8 of the 31 day blog writing challenge and I'm still going strong.  It's a good thing I'm working on so many things right now!

Here's my progress.  I did days seven and eight and added some more quilting to two ornaments.

This is day 7.  I added the extra inside curves to add density.  I find that when quilting a quilt I want to have fairly consistent density across the quilt.  So I added some extra lines in places to give me that effect.

I must admit I didn't like my first attempt at either of these two circles.  So what to do?  Duh...add more thread!  So I did and I'm a happy camper.

And here is day 8.  I love geometric spirals.

Excitedly awaiting the new On Ringo Lake Mystery clue from Bonnie Hunter...

I hope you get to quilt today!

Helen Godden's Christmas Advent Quilt Along - Part 2

It's Day 7 for the 31 Day Quilt Blogging Challenge!

Today I show you the second steps of my Christmas Advent Quilt Along from Helen Godden.  She's hosting it on her Facebook page and it's so much fun.  She gives you the pattern for a wreath and each day posts the next step.

Today you can see I've added circles 2-6.  I can hardly wait for the next one to come out!

It's going to be such fun to see all the different motifs fill in.

Love this one with stipples.

These two are favorites as well.  I love Helen's Stack of Rocks.

I also stitched down the words at the top.

Helen Godden's Christmas Advent Quilt Along - Part 1

It's Day 6 for the 31 Day Quilt Blogging Challenge!

Today I show you the start of my Christmas Advent Quilt Along from Helen Godden.  She's hosting it on her Facebook page and it's so much fun.  She gives you the pattern for a wreath and each day posts the next step.

Here's the first step.  The quilt all marked and basted with pins.  Why pins?  That's a good question.  I like pins because they let me flex the fabric around a bit if I need to.

And now I've stitched down all the circles and the bow.  I chose to use a Glide 40 weight poly thread because I like the extra sheen to it.

The first circle all filled up with a fun star.  I added some extra stitching to the inside to emphasize the star.

I love to free motion quilt and this project is such fun!

I hope you get to quilt today!
See you tomorrow!

Quiltville On Ringo Lake Mystery - Clue #2

31 Day Blogging Challenge Day 5!

I'm currently working on Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville Mystery.  We're on clue 2.  I must admit that I applique more than I piece and it's fun to do something different.

Here are all my geese pinned and ready to go.  There are a lot.

Here are some of them pressed.  I love the orange and coral combination!

And all stacked up ready to be put away.

The first two clues.  I adore these colors.  They're what finally made me participate after years of watching!  Ready for clue 3 on Friday.

I hope you get to quilt today!

Lunchbox Inspiration

I'm staying caught up...day 4 of the 31 day quilt blogging challenge!

I took this picture at lunch the other day.  I love the colors of this lunchbox!

Okay....so this may not be quilt inspiration, but my son built this with blocks the other day and it's just so much fun.

I love the colors of these trees!  A pale lavendar and coral would be a gorgeous color combination.

Christmas Tree Love from Australia

I'm participating in muppin.com's 31 day blog post challenge.  Today, I want to tell you about my friend Glenda from Australia.

Last week I posted a picture of the Christmas tree block I made from a picture I'd torn out of an old church bulletin. I love this block.

I got an email and blog comment from the lovely Glenda from Australia about a tree she was creating that was similar.  We must be on the same wavelength.  Except, her's is 4 feet tall!  It's fabulous....

I love how she overlapped her feathers and added a spine.  I love the corners too!  She told me that they were created because a piece had been cut from a corner.  Necessity is sometimes the mother of invention and I think the corners are fabulous!

Here's a link to her part 1

The 31 Day Blog Writing Challenge

And here we go.......

Click HERE to see all the amazing bloggers participating!

So it's the Christmas season, life is crazy busy, and I decide to up my blogging from 4 to 7 days a week?  Am I crazy?  Possibly....but I do have a lot of things I'm working on right now to share, so I'm going to go for it!

I post four days regularly.  Monday's are inspiration.  Wednesdays and Saturdays are projects, and Fridays have to be Free Motion Fridays!

My name is Suzy Webster.  I've been a quilter for 30 years since I learned at my mother's feet.  She has always been such an inspiration to me.  My favorite techniques are paper piecing, applique, and free motion quilting.  I often free motion quilt things to death....it's my favorite part!

I am an Ambassador for Island Batiks!  Their batiks are so fabulous and beautiful.  I enjoy creating projects for them once a month.  Here's a few recent quilts

I might also be on the way to becoming addicted to my mother's (and now mine...she said I could share) GO Cutter from Accuquilt....I'be been playing with it a lot for the Quiltville Mystery Bonnie Hunter has going on right now.

I've also decided to do Helen Godden's Advent Calendar Quilt Along.  Oh and two more online classes in the new year.  And I just finished the I Wish You a Merry Quilt Along.  Yup, just a few things in the fire.  Did I mention I also teach third grade for a living?  And have two boys in grades 1 and 4?  AND a fabulous husband?  Yes, life is busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am also a show quilter and am trying to finish up a show quilt and get most of the way through another by the end of the year.  That might be a little too much to accomplish, but I have until Feb. 1 for the deadline.  I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

Here's a few of my show pieces.

I have published an applique book, Folk Art Quilted Traditions through the American Quilter's Society and self-published a book of 40 Free Motion Filler Patterns.  See links on the side of the blog if you're interested in a copy and I'll be happy to send you an invoice.

My New Book!

I hope you get to quilt today!
Thank you Karen for letting me come play on your Bernina Q20 tonight!
