Free Motion Friday - Hazelnuts

I love this design!  I had a stitching time with my mom over Thanksgiving weekend and she decided this design should be called Hazelnuts.  I had to agree and I do happen to really like Hazelnuts.

You can find the written directions here.

First stitch in the ditch around the block.  Then make a circle about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. (No idea why this picture is wonky....sorry!)

Then go back and stitch an arch in the circle.

Backtrack to the bottom of the hazelnut and stitch three lines as shown below backtracking over each one.

Now backtrack to where you want to start your next nut.  If you look at the picture below you can see that I had a very tiny space that needed to be filled.  I could've done a large circle, but instead I decided to do a tiny hazelnut.  It's so cute!

Here I've stitched out just over half my block.  You can see that the Hazelnuts vary in size and shape, but when they're all put together they look great!

And the final block!  I love this one and can't wait to use it on a quilt.

I hope you get to quilt today!
