International Quilt Festival Houston Auction Quilt - Part 2

Complete!  My little quilt is off to Houston to be auctioned off as part of the small quilt auction at International Quilt Festival!

I appliqued my flower down to my background fabric.  Then I started drawing some lines for the quilting.

Here's a closer look at the plan

You can see that the red stitching goes through the blue and purple fabrics.  I am into layering my quilting like this right now.

Teeny tiny hexagon cross hatching in the center hexie

A purple flower in the center

I really like how this lavender stitching pulls your eye out since it matches the purple fabric.  I want to play with this idea some more.

The purple wasn't going to show the quilting much so I decided on simple pebbles.

The back at this stage.  I love the color!

I didn't want to use plain thread for the background so I chose a light lavender to add a little pop of color.

Ta da!  All done.

I hope you get to quilt today!

  1. The detail to your quilting just blows me away, Suzy! Now that I've seen your quilts in real life, I'm just amazed. This is such a pretty twist on a hexie quilt!

  2. This is lovely. I have a hexi die coming and I can't wait thought I'm a little nervous that I've wasted my money. My old fingers no longer have the strength they use to have. Here's to hoping I could do a couple every evening.
