Island Batik Ambassador's Inspired by Nature Blog Hop

I am so excited to share my quilt made with Island Batik's new Tiki Punch collection. It is designed by Kathy Engle for Kate Colleran of Seams Like A Dream Quilt Designs. This collection reminds me of being on a tropical island. It made me smile the whole time I was working with it. I received a bundle of half-yards of this collection and I decided to make a quilt for my bed for the first time ever as an Ambassador. It was a personal challenge to try to use up as much of the fabric from the collection as possible and I'm happy to say that I did in this 90 inch square quilt.

I had a blast sewing with these gorgeous tropical fabrics and my favorite Aurifil thread!  I quickly got to work cutting pieces mostly with my Accuquilt Go.

When I realized how BIG this quilt was going to be I enlisted the help of my mother Kathy who has a long arm business.  I am so glad I did.  She had fun quilting butterflies and feathers all over my quilt using Hobbs 80/20 Cotton/Poly batting of course.

My neighbors just put in this new light post....I may be borrowing it a lot for picture taking!

Island Batik is giving away two bundles of gorgeous fabric this week!  Click below to enter.

  5. Gorgeous quilt - hard to believe it is the first for you bed from IB, but the challenges getting done don’t always allow for a large quilt. Glad you were able to do it....gives me an idea for one of the two dcollections I have left!

What makes a quilt a quilt? The love that goes into all the stitches and making it perfect for that one special person. Knowing that that one special person will be wrapped in love and warmth. quilting dash lady at comcast dot net

  9. A quilt is a quilt when it's made with love. All fabrics, patterns and techniques work. It's the love you put in that make it so.

  14. A quilt is a gift of the heart. It is made with someone in mind, but can be spontaneous also.

  19. What makes a quilt a quilt? My 1st thought was of all the love that goes into making it. I think that this thought came from the fact that all my quilts have been made for gifts. Love the pretty quilt that you made from the fabrics. Nancy A: SewingGranda@gmail.com

  21. The colors in the quilt kind of remind me of Rainbow Sherbert. Makes me want to melt right into it. (Don’t mind me, it’s too early!)
