Hello Fall Blog Hop!

It's fall!?  How did that happen?  Time flies.  For the Hello Fall Blog Hop I decided I wanted to create a new pillow. Carla with Creatin' in the Sticks always has such fun blog hops.

I went digging in my Island Batik scrap bin and found some beauties leftover from a 10 inch square stack.  It was a challenge making sure I had enough of each color but with different backgrounds I was able to persevere.  


I started with some maple leaf blocks in pale green and gold.  At this point where I had all four blocks made I realized that I hadn't put on any stems...what to do?

I decided that they needed applique stems.  And while I was at it I decided to make them fancy stems.  Which ended morphing into this:

I love how the stitching adds to the design.

I was at this point where I'd added a border when it occurred to me that this would be a nice sized pillow.

It was Sunday and my preferred pillow form store was closed....but Mom came to my rescue as she had one!  Happy Fall!

    Pretty soft colours and I love the appliqued stems. Good thinking with that idea.

    Forgetting those stems was the BEST thing you could have done for your lovely scrappy design! The fancy applique took your pillow to a whole 'nother level, Suzy. I think your project is SEW perfect for the Hop!
