Furniture Inspiration

I love this chest.  I didn't need to spend the money, but isn't the carving on the front amazing?  It would be a great quilting pattern or applique pattern.

I didn't end up buying this couch, but I love the pillows.  Interesting circular designs side by side.  Hmmmm....

Free Motion Friday - My Son's First Adventure on the Longarm

When my Island Batik Ambassador box came last week my younger son claimed the Paisley Dot Brights as his.  My comment was, "only if you're going to use them."  Well, I'm happy to say that yesterday he did!  We laid out the 10 inch squares.

Then he picked out this gorgeous Aurifil thread to piece with.  A variegated thread.  He's brave!

He was slow and patient and did a good job keeping a 1/4 inch seam.

In less than two hours we had the whole top put together.

Fortunately, grandma didn't have anything loaded on her long arm, so we bought some Minky for the back and loaded it up!

A lesson on the machine ensued.

He had no fear.  This kid LOVES to draw with a pencil and would say, "Ready, Set, Stitch" and away he'd go. He quilted mushrooms, jellyfish, lots of spirals.

The lowest object there is a Jellyfish with four legs.

He even quilted his name!  And the kid hasn't learned cursive yet.

I must admit he made his mama want to try it.  Stay tuned!

Island Batik Ambassador Box #2

Getting a box from Island Batiks is like Christmas for me!  It's always so exciting to see what is in the box.  This box was amazing!  I can't wait to get started.  I LOVE being an Island Batik Ambassador!  Be sure to look for these collections in your local quilt shop.

I adore this Indigo Morris collection!  I can't wait to make a blue and white quilt with them.

I know and love the solid white batik fabric from Island Batik.  Who knew it came in black and gray?!  Sew excited.

These are fabrics from the Check it Out line.  Aren't they fun?  I can't wait to fussy cut them of course!

Five yards of this gorgeous neutral.

Some foundations pieces.  I love the mix of colors.

Dots!  I love dots!

All a Flutter.  This would be perfect for a baby girl quilt...

Surprise!  You'll have to wait on this one.  Yes, I peeked.

An amazing gift from Aurifil!  A 10 year anniversary bag.  A spool of red orange (my favorite!) thread and a pack of green in all the different weights.  Won't that be fun for an appliquer?!  I also love the Powered by Aurifil sticker...where to put it?

AND THIS made me SOOOO excited!  I LOVE Hobbs Batting.  It has my favorite Cotton/Wool, a wool batting and a cotton batting.  I can't wait to play with this too!

When Two Quilters and One Clothing Sewer go to the Warehouse Store

What happens when you take one cousin who sews and embroiders and two quilters to the warehouse fabric store?  This...

We have lots of interesting things!  Satin, fleece, denim, canvas, cotton, a pillow form.  We had fun.  Oh!  And I bought a ton of leather scrap bags in different weights and COLORS!  I had way too much fun.

We also got into cooking with fresh berries.  Strawberry pie (bought from the local farm) with a black raspberry glaze (from our backyard)

We also made 7 batches of jam.  We got a bit carried away.  This batch is apricot.  It is soooo tasty!

I hope you get to quilt today! And also enjoy summer's bounty!

Stitching on Paint Block 11

It's the last block.  I know.  There are 11.  You'll have to wait and see what happens...

Here is the block with the light blue stitched.

I did paisleys in the light blue.

Doesn't the back look amazing!?

Then to echo the orange fabric which has little rectangles in it I decided to stitch the dark blue areas with bricks.  I love the contrast between the curvy paisleys and the straight bricks.  Such fun!

And the back...

Free Motion Friday - Stitching on Paint Block 10

I am having such fun stitching on paint!  Here is Block 10.

In the flower at left I did some simply curved echoed lines.  In the red point I did some double bubble fill work.

For the clam shell area here I did simply echoes and then filled one row with circles for added pizzazz.  If you look closely you can see that in the red circles I added some quilting as well.

You can really see the quilting from the back.
